This is normal in the recruiting world in general. I can’t tell you how many great conversations I’ve had with recruiters and hiring managers that promise a next round and then ghost me.
Wrong bowl but yeah this happens a lot it seems. Was funny when it was an employee market, how mad employers used to get and say how employees are disrespectful, but they always do the same.
If you officially applied for the job, you may get a generic we appreciate your time, but we have decided to hire someone else a few months from now.
Recruiters have way too many choices. Like subway sandwiches. They cant even remember the last sandwich they ordered. Let alone candidates.
