Has anyone actually found a job that respects boundaries and understands that the purpose of human life is also to 'live' and not just to work? Or is that an unrealistic expectation for this generation of workers? I'm so sick of being underpaid and overworked.

I worked at a pizza parlor. Full time, day shift. We had an all you can eat pizza, chicken, and salad buffet. Almost zero stress, we all enjoyed working there, and I never worked more than 40 hours a week. If only it paid more...

Well, that's why you had a good life. Cuz you're not being enough and allowed to have a more relaxed work week.

No. If you find it let the rest of us know

You need to think about your purpose, and then find a team and roles that will help you fulfill it. What you’re asking for isn’t unrealistic - it’s just subjective. If you’re getting a call at 8pm that you may be working on a major deal and will need to pull several late nights: are you going to see this as a career shifting opportunity or are you going to hate it? If you hate it - quit, it’s not worth your time. Find something that you’re passionate about. The realities are that building a career is going to be hard, finding a job is easy.

I see that it's not just me with this thought...

Biggest cringe for me has got to be when people include “ex-<company name>” in their title… see it for loads of the big 4 firms and I’m thinking wow you must love slave drivers that underappreciate you 🤣

on the way to an interview this morning eating a sandwich. I walked past a homeless man who had a stray cat perched on his lap. He asked for a bite of sandwich to feed them both as they hadn’t eaten in days. I gave the whole sandwich over and headed off to the interview. As I got to the interview room there was a large executive chair facing away from me. The chair turned and on top was a mirror. When looking in the mirror I could see the cat. I am the cat. Truly inspirational when you work hard

This whole thing is cringe - how proposed after forcing employees to make a fake commercial and attend, calling himself rainmaker, the formatting. Image of the text in comments.

Is it just me or do 90% of the jobs being laid off by big tech sound made up? Many job descriptions with multiple bullet points that all kinda revolve around the same idea. One of my buddies works for a big IT company and literally just sits on meetings all day. No one really contributing to anything other than agreeing to whatever the speaker is saying. Are these kind of jobs finally being exposed? Six figure employees getting paid to sit and bounce ideas off each other?

I woke up today tired.

My work cell was buzzing and then I remembered something.

I forgot to thank the bus driver that dropped me off a few days ago.

I got up and rushed downstairs to find the bus driver.

It was raining outside but I was already running barefoot to the bus stop.

I stood there soaked in my pajamas as the bus approached.

Then, the door opened. The driver got up and shook my hand.

I sat down and started my shift.

I’m the bus driver. Reminder to love and thank yourself.
