Yes, it's incredibly slow. I have been hired into three government roles. Some agencies are quicker than others. And once you get an offer, it is usually still slow in terms of getting a formal written offer and passing any required security. Just remember, while most government pay is set by law, agencies do have authority to grant recruitment incentives up to 10,000 if they are hiring you from the private sector. I'm leaving government service next week - best of luck in the current chaos.
Yup. That's fairly standard. I applied to a role in May, interviewed in November and started the following year.
OP, government was not hiring during the shutdown generally so if you applied before the shutdown and were contacted after the 43 days, then it’s fast. Eliminating that critical fact changes what you’re complaining about. I hope you don’t leave out critical facts in your work!

Yes omg I applied in beginning of October, got an email end of November and interview in Mid-December. Another process I was contacted 4 months later for the exam 😵💫

It’s a slow process in general. Public sector is even more slower, several months are the average
