I’ve worked on two matters with a first year that multiple partners have referred to as a “superstar.” Their work was just fine on both matters and downright wrong on certain issues/points. I’ve definitely been more impressed by other first years in this class. However, this first year is incredibly outgoing and some would probably consider them “charming” (comes across as a borderline sociopath imo). Could that be why partners think so highly of them?

My company blames my generation for not being able to hire everyday. “You guys don’t want to work” coming from some overweight, racist, old coaster. I’ve barely taken any days off this year and pick up “skeleton crew” days any chance I get. I was able to work out a deal with my company before I came because of prior experience luckily, but they offer a terrible base salary and sham of a commission structure to new hires + no remote.
