I work here. Important to understand if you are applying for a Gamma consulting vs. solutions profile. Very different in terms of comp and work-life balance. Of course they hire at entry level (expectations again differ between C & S). The minimum requirement is usually a Master’s for either though.
@BCG1 - What are the differences in comp and work life balance? In a masters program now and considering applying once I graduate
BCG1, truly appreciate your response! Say if I’m applying for C positions, do I just send a general application online? Lol. I was probably crazy, but I didn’t see any entry level postings for specific skillset/practices. Most of them require at least 3 yrs exp. is applying entry level positions as experienced hire even possible?
BCG1 is the master’s requirement actually true? The LA office has a number of BS level team members from what I’ve seen.
Those folks are not gamma c. Exceptions made for significant experience, but I haven’t seen that often
Bcg1 and 2 do they hire masters in analytics candidates with no prior analytics experience? In other words consulting in another area? The masters would be from ga tech which is a fairly well respected program
Comp & WL balance Gamma C is at par with BCG management consulting (high base + bonus and long hours + M-Th travel). Gamma S is non-client facing (usually) - comp is ~30-50% lower (depending on position) and hours are (usually) a very predictable 9-6. Significantly less travel too.
ZS1 and DD1. Yes we may have an odd non-Master’s DS but then they would usually have significant (3-5 yrs) experience in a DS/DE role. A Master’s eases/removes that requirement.
Ok that’s good to know. I’ve got approximately 4 yrs of consulting experience in tech implementation and tech strategy but it’s been tough trying to break into BI or data analytics type consulting. Now I def feel better about the masters being worthwhile
Gamma recently restructured their people model. We used to occasionally hire straight of of undergrad but that level no longer exists. We do hire masters students and have begun on campus recruiting for masters students in technical disciplines at traditional BCG target schools.
Ds1 what are some of gammas target schools? Is ga tech one of them?
