I passed CPA and have audit experience but I don’t really understand how industry accounting cycle works :( What does it mean to close the books? Are they referring to 12/31 deadline? Do all JE have to be recorded within this date? How does one close it?

How do I leave my role as someone on the talent team. I am on a small recruitment team of only a few people, who connect daily. I have an offer from a pretty well-known but less prestigious Consulting Firm, but I’m wondering what my chances even are of going Big 4/MBB if I’m not a campus hire. Will they even consider me for an experienced hire a year or two down the road if they showed no interest this time? Any advice welcome!
