Has anyone switched career paths from private practice to contracts manager or something in compliance? Looking to take a step back while raising young children and do not think moving in house to corporate counsel, etc. will move the needle enough (I could be wrong). Open to a reduction in salary for the right balance.

Might be worth investigating clean energy compliance, that field has a lot of funding in the wake of the Build Back Better Act and co.

One of my old colleagues did this years ago. He worked in private practice, then was commercial counsel in house, then purposely became a contracts manager handling routine/simple agreements to ease into retirement. Last time he spoke he said the pay is waaaaay lower but his stress level went down exponentially and it freed up his time (and mind) significantly. He isn’t looking to get back into a counsel/private practice position, but I think that may be something to consider.

Haven’t personally made the switch but I have a friend that works as a contracts manager. Much better hours- she rarely works over 3 hours a day. But pay is SIGNIFICANTLY lesser.
