McKinsey & Company I received an offer from McKinsey & Company in 2021 and I’ll be starting later this year after graduation. Obviously because of the pandemic, inflation is slowly trending upwards. Has anyone asked for a base salary increase before even starting the job? Any advice on how to approach this?

It’s pretty normal. You feel the actual grind, see the “aspirational” lives of partners or execs who don’t have enough time for their kids or health, and simultaneously are building your own reasons not to work your life away like finding a spouse, having pets/kids, enjoying your house.
I also encourage people exiting to not overcorrect too hard, and try to find more of a “soft landing” exit.
yeah i find a lot of moves people make can be reactionary. whenever ive wanted to quit in a very emotional state, i commit to a week of thought / reflection and realize im not ready to quit yet. i will eventually…but for the right exit / reason vs. something short-term or as a reaction to something.
B1 gave great input. I don't know if it really changed me, but gave me a different perspective on life, career, money. I've also learned some incredible skills, understand my strengths better, and know the things I value in my working relationships for the future. I don't think I would have learned those skills, to this extent, in another job. That being said I'm close to departure after 6 yrs.
