Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?
What jobs are currently paying 85k?
Have an offer at Citi for 120K as an AVP in the NY office. Currently making 92K at my current role. Is this a fair offer? I currently WFH pretty much full time at my current role but it seems like this one requires 2-3 days in the office - and this is something I’m very hesitant about. Thoughts on how to approach this?

Seems low to me, but I guess it might not be that bad depending on location. The travel part would be the sticking point for me. If you're traveling that often, I'd expect you to get a company card, not have to pay out of pocket.
The pay seems reasonable but I agree with M1. Paying out-of-pocket for that frequent travel seems unusual and almost a little bit suspicious. That could potentially be thousands of dollars at a time that would need to be paid out-of-pocket and reimbursed.
Pay is too low. 65 may be a starting point and dependent on experience, education, etc. it can go higher. Is there a salary band or does the job role state that the salary is $65,000? Does it list it as base pay, target or full salary?
$65k seems about right for a general HR position starting out, but there are other considerations for sure. The salary might seem low, but other factors might make up for the base. Are all travel costs reimbursed such as meals and incidentals or is there a daily per diem allotment ? Does the company provide rental in addition to airfare and hotel bills? Is there a company credit card? How fast is the turn around for reimbursements? Does the company good health insurance, with all of the travel, they're bound to get sick on the road. What about when the person is at home, do they have to go into an office routinely or is there down time between trips? Weekend travel? Overtime available?
If you have an employee that requires travel in their job, they shouldn’t get reimbursed, you should have a card that everything can go on some sort of travel card for your company or the company.
Usually, if your salary meaning 65K a year, you don’t get overtime.
