Have an offer for 20k more than I make now, using it mostly to negotiate my compensation where I’m at. Do I need to sign the offer letter? It’s due next Tuesday. Once I sign, I can always back out right? It doesn’t appear to be legally binding and it states “at-will”.

I would ask for an extension on signing. But yes you can always back out. Not a great look but also not a big deal.

like

Thank you

Do not sign it.

Tell your current employer you have an offer for $X and would like them to match your current salary to $X since you enjoy working in your current role but understand you’re not compensated commensurate to what value you bring to the company.

Thank you for the insight

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.

Junior associate here, should I ask for more money if my firm is about 10-15 percent less hours but about 30 percent less pay? The gap will never be closed to the top pay scale at my firm but when I decided to come to this firm the pay difference was about 15 percent and not 30. Would appreciate any thoughts on how to go about bringing this up without pissing people off because I love the firm and do not want to leave
