Exit opportunities for Risk Assurance / DAT? I feel like what we do is so concentrated - what’s one thing we can market ourselves as having experience in?
Applied for an in-house position last week. I think I am a good fit. Haven’t heard from the big tech company. I briefly worked for the director of that group a few years back at a different law firm and we are connected on LinkedIn. Should I reach out to her? What should I say?
Anyone in Anthem’s Strategy Consulting (ASC) group that can give insight on the company, role, culture etc.
Coming from a big 4 - Can we mention the names of the clients we have worked with over the years when interviewing? I am at a boutique agency now working with some people who came from Accenture and some other consulting companies and I noticed that they will reference their clients by brand name. If it is a past project and you do not give any client sensitive information is it OK to share the names of the brands that you've worked with in your previous role? What's standard?
What are the potential benefits of working at a deals oriented firm (e.g., LEK, S& Deals, EY-P) as compared to the more traditional Big 4 MC type roles at the post-M level? Really struggling with putting in the hours for the deals centric role as I’m not 100% sure of the longer term payoff (besides short term slight bump in comp).
Hey Salesforce 🐠. I had a first round interview (hiring manager) ten business days ago and haven't heard a peep since. My workday still says "Interviewing". Is that normal? Does it ever change to something like "pass"? Should I just move on? 🥺
If I try to switch groups, interview and not get it the role. Can I still apply to other openings for the same company?
I created a LoFi playlist on YouTube for consultants like us to vibe and work on (“Pls Fix Playlists”) It’s made me at least 2x more productive in editing my resume while searching for exit opps - so hope it does the same for ya’ll! Let me know what ya’ll fishes think: https://youtu.be/_PWxgWMtP5I
Is there a difference between a normal tax professional vs a tax consultant that works for the big 4? Are they essentially the same position and get paid the same as well?
Trying to exit into FAANG but know it may be a long shot involving a handful of rejections. Meanwhile got approached by a number of recruiters for a) smaller emerging startup <but need to shift geo>, and b) major banks for in-house strategy. I’ll proceed with interviews with a) since it will give me a flavour of tech recruiting, but should I even go through with interview process for b)? Thoughts? Fyi, have not interviewed in 4+ years!
What are the ultimate consulting exit apps (I.e? specific role/team & industry) for the non-technical consultants? Looking to understand the exit opps available that: 1. Pay in line with MBB or exceeds (YOY raise is also in line with career and pay progression at MBB) 2. Have reasonable hours, at most 9-7 so I can pick up some hobbies and have a personal life 3. Have great global brand/prestige that will make me as desirable exiting consulting now vs exiting that company in the future
What are some exit opps outside of life sciences? And any prerequisites needed to make the switch?
Hi all - I’m working as a Jr AE at a remote agency. Before full-time at this agency, I interned there for 2 years and often did pro-bono work. I love my company so much, but I often feel stuck when it comes to salary and growth. The salary is minimum wage and every time I ask about a raise they agree I need one but never get around to it. Today, I was offered a position at another agency as a remote AE with more than double my current salary. I didn’t seek this job out but don’t know what to do.
Should I be concerned for my career with lack of billable projects? Background: Analyst hired out of undergrad in July 2020. I have worked on 3 proposals in the last 2 weeks, and 5 in the last 2 months. In the past year since I was hired, I have 8 months of billable work which is actually slightly higher than the other Analysts I joined with. Should I keep collecting paychecks and hoping for projects, or is this a serious issue that should prompt an exit strategy?
I’m burnt out on taxes; I wanted to do 10 returns a year, if that. Looking at an accounting manager position with KPMG, from the job description, looks like just accounting and financial reporting. Does anyone know if that is true. Also, how’s the culture at KPMG? Looking in the STL area.
Step out on faith - Current big4 Strategy consultant looking for an opportunity to pivot to an MBB role. Any partners looking to hire a MBA with a diverse background? I can provide email.
Here is my idea for a startup! I collect all the data from career transitions and use Data Analytics to predict the most likely career transitions. I could start with consulting. What do you guys think about this? I would be able to predict based on your firm(mbb, big4), your experience, which role you are likely to move (Faang pm, strategy manager, move to mbb). I have all the data to do this, but wanted your thoughts. Would the output of this be relevant to you?
just received an offer to exit to a venture fu nd on the other side of the country for slightly less pay - do I take it?
I feel like I wasted a morning. I’m pregnant, can’t focus on work, can’t take my adhd meds, in a new position with no support, and I’m nauseated all the time. I don’t know how to prioritize my work like I have in the past. Has anyone else been in this situation? Any tips?
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that we’re not gonna be required to come back in the office come September with the delta variant picking up speed
Hi Fishes! I’m a newly promoted S1 in tax at a Top 10. I’m trying to join the Big 4 post 10/15 (preferably KPMG) Does anyone have any tips or suggestions to make it in? I had an interview with EY two weeks ago (before I was officially a senior), but never heard back, probably because they were looking for a senior lol. 😭 Thank you everyone!!!
How do people think about Roth vs Traditional? How are you all thinking about tax bracket now vs at retirement? For context, I’m 27, single and currently make $107K in DC as a social impact consultant. Will get an MBA so salary will increase but IDK what tax bracket will be at retirement...
Does it make sense to opt for pension if you're not going to stay in UK life-long? Are there different types of pensions (guessing some might pay my entire invested amount prematurely if I leave country unlike national insurance)?
Considering leaving Bain with 2 years in SM role, HSW MBA, and 11 years since undergrad. Google role is non-technical Cloud Strategy. Unsure of title or level at this point - called "lead" but contact indicated flexibility. Would be remote in a non-SF/NY location. Mgr indicated it was technically an individual contributor role though I would be managing 2 people. What comp/level should I expect (Assuming L6?)? What is the significance of the IC role if I'm technically managing 2?
Looking for a new office chair at home. Any suggestions? Two key qualities: comfortable and adjustable Price is very flexible. Much rather pay more for a nicer chair than get a deal. Thanks!
What type of questions should I expect in an skills-based Product Manager interview? A senior product manager will facilitate the interview, who sits in the Accenture Interactive umbrella
Has anyone jumped from Big 4 Advisory to Tier 1 Consulting firms (e.g. MBB). Was the jump at the same, higher or lower level?
Planning a bridal shower / bachelorette party weekend for my elder sister (she’s 28). She wants to have it in NYC, which is where she and I live. I’m thinking bridal shower at Union Square Cafe or some other fancy restaurant Saturday morning, bachelorette party Saturday night (but no idea where), and then casual goodbye brunch at my parent’s place on Sunday AM. Her friends would fly in Friday or Saturday morning. Have never done this so need all the advice / suggestions! Thank you!
I've received 2 offers to FAANG companies this year as Sr Product Mgr, got along brilliantly with the teams, but ultimately neither were willing to help process my visa in this climate. I know folks have it more rough, but feeling pretty bummed out.
Does anyone know any good tactics for a lead gen campaign? Client is mad that no leads have come through and Paid Search has been terrible
Sick for the first time in 2 years because I spent time with extended family and their kids. What is it about kids constantly being sick?? I spend 2 days around toddlers and my immune system takes a vacation.
Work from home Friday ... Also known as keep on moving the mouse so the lync status remains in "Available"
Anyone else get sick of the “perception” game? I feel like I’m judged more by what I look like I’m doing than I do by what I actually output
80% of this job is selling. Mangers on your idea. Clients for money. Agency for promotions.
I feel like this is a big fat no: I left Deloitte in 2019. In 2019 I traveled to two states for work...is there a way to get Deloitte to reimburse me for the $110 I’m about to pay to TurboTax?
I posted in the Healthcare bowl but didn’t get quality responses. PE is notorious for being difficult to break into unless you’re IB. However, there are success stories of consultants making it. Healthcare consulting is lucrative because it requires a very niche knowledge base that is honestly rather difficult to acquire. I’m wondering if that niche knowledge base would make it easier to exit to a healthcare-focused PE firm. Thoughts? Also, general tips for moving to PE would be helpful!
How does everyone show off concepts in their book that haven't been executed but still want to display?
