Have you ever felt like the “networking game” rewards the loudest people in the room instead of the most talented? I’ve seen average writers get staffed because they’re masters of small talk at mixers, while better scripts sit ignored. I’ll admit, I’ve lost jobs because I wasn’t as flashy in a room, even though my work was stronger. It makes me wonder if success here is really about craft or just connections.

Had a first round interview scheduled for a large CPG brand. My interviewer never called me, and I emailed following up to confirm the call. It’s been over a day and no response. What is going on with recruiters? I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt, but not even an email back saying “something came up” or “we’ve moved on” ? I’ve been ghosted after every final interview during my recent job search, but never had I been ghosted before even having the first call??

I had a phone screening with a recruiter (who is a TD Industries employee- not outside recruiter) I asked specifically when they were looking to hire on, he said a month give or take a few weeks. That was on September 9th. I sent a thank you followup email the next day with letters of recommendation like I had mentioned in our conversation. I sent a second follow up email asking if they had made any decisions on who will be asked for inperson interviews, he said....check comments plz 🙏
