Have you ever tried using another job offer to get more money from your current employer. How did it go?

I havent but when I considered doing this, my dad told me that it might make me a target for being fired bc once they know you are interviewing, you can’t take that back

Also they might tell you to “just go” and then you are SOL

I was offered a position paying significantly more. I informed my boss who attempted to get the company to match or exceed the amount to keep me. Unfortunately, they were not able to so I left. I do miss my last job but I know I made the right decision.

It might work out but there is the chance it might not work out. Humans are very finicky and do not always act as you would expect, so be okay with your current employer saying no and also be okay with them putting a target on your back if you stay.
I would say if you think you are being underpaid, just have a the conversation about it, I wouldn’t try to strong arm them with another job offer that you don’t want

Morgan Stanley will match a higher offer in certain key roles if they want to retain you.

Have an acquaintance who is a single mom; she purchased a used car 3 mos ago. Six wks later her 17yo wrecked it, air bags deployed, and estimates have ranged between $10-$18k in needed repairs while $21k is still owed. Acquaintance was switching insurance policies and flubbed the coverage dates and there were a few days where the vehicle was uninsured. No GAP insurance. I'm not seeing many options for her besides to continue pmts, fixing just enough to drive or voluntary repo. Thoughts?

I joined Tiger Analytics with CTC of 9lpa. When I check in greythr IT statement, it shows 7.14lpa.

In the CTC payslip, it shows 75k per month as my salary. But this month I got 61k.

I understand they deduct tax, but I feel it is too much. IDK where I'm losing the money. Can someone tell if this is normal. I'm a fresher so, IDK much about it.

Also, what can I do to pay less taxes? Any help on that?
