I can refer you to someone who does great work, let me know
I’ll DM you!
This contract will likely lock him in for the next decade or so he should go with the best he can afford. A bad deal can end a career (financially) before it even gets started and all of them trap artists.
He should go with attorneys who work the genre, James McMillan is a good place to start.
interesting, I’ll share this with him, thank you!
I’m in the litigation department of an entertainment law firm. I’m happy to refer you to our transactional folks, I don’t think we have a set rate, it depends on the kind of agreement. Let me know!

I’m in the entertainment transactions group at my firm (based on CA). We have music attorneys that are experienced with these types of agreements. DM me if interested!
I’m a transactional music attorney - it’s all our firm does - just for reference, if it’s a major label the fee is usually 5% of the in pocket advance to the artist and we negotiate that into the deal as an additional advance paid by the label, so the artist doesn’t come out of pocket. If it’s not a major label deal with a large advance, you might be charged hourly or sometimes a flat fee. Either way I definitely suggest finding a music (that actually practices music law) attorney that’s in their price range look at it.
Any others have any contacts?
