Hello!
I finished my final round(s) for a TAM position at Google (GCP) last week and was told by my recruiter that my feedback was great and that I made a solid impression on the team and am "firmly in the running". I was supposed to hear back this week (according to the recruiter) but he just told me that it's still in the process and that I'll have to wait for another week or so.
Is this common at Google ? I have heard they are notorious for being really slow with their hiring process.

Feel free to DM me! Was also a burnt out implementation consultant turned SE. Hours are “chiller” but more stressful IMO. As in I don’t log more than 50 hrs/ week (was logging 60-70 in consulting) but my full day is back to back perpetually.

What market are you in?
Former IBM SE, former Salesforce Consultant. As an SE you SELL. IBM made us carry a quota. In my final year there, they effectively turned us into Account Executives. You need to have the product demo, customizations, answers down cold. You don’t want to have any doubt in the Account Executive’s mind. You have to think of the biggest possible sale, even when it might be better if the customer took it slow with the product. Think of how to bring in other products and services in the deal. You are supposed to be their “trusted advisor”, but really it’s about getting them to commit to buy more.

Yeah I’ve been in solutions here for 4 years and we’ve never really been pushed that much to sell over anything (at all costs). That being said, the best SEs here are really good at selling and always have that in mind
Salesforce SE here... Definitely take a few weeks to recover if you can. The interview and onboarding process is pretty stressful, and you want to be sure you can put your best foot forward.
If you get time to do service cert, that’s been a big driver this year. Service side of SE world is actively looking for people as it’s become our hottest product
I'm in FINS.. most days are chill but there are quite a few days with back to back calls/deals to work through. Can get mentally exhausting at times but I'll take this over consulting/implementation any day of the week.

FINS is where it’s at!
I heard SE roles can burn someone out so curious to see responses
Nah but chatted with someone who left Salesforce
If you want to chill, try customer success
40 hours a week? Salesforce? Not in my time here. A good week is a pinch under 60.
Senior SE and lower get OT. Some places, lead SE gets OT too.
Why tf would I refute your points when I made them first? 😂 im not even gonna waste my time.
What are typical YOE for levels? Currently 3 YOE with implementation partner and 4 certs + some prior sales exp with SAAS companies via internships
