It is a masked salary..only the hike is actually known..the actual salary is not what the manager knows..its like a accuracy level..the higher you are in the management the more accurate information you are given about anyones salary..its highly confidential matter to know salary of your colleagues especially of different position in work..so if you see your reportee getting 10% appraisal ..thats true ..but if its written you get a salary hike from 15 to 16.5 ..its not true..it could be 25 to 27.5..or 8 to 8,8 ..the company wont give information to you even if you are a manager..
