Did some tasting today! Reeve in Sonoma.

I have 2 offers, one from JPMC ( LOB IS Consumer and Community Banking) and the other from Wells Fargo. Both are giving similar roles, and exactly same pay. Location is Hyderabad. I tried for revision of pay but it didn't work.
Could anyone help me understand which one is better to join in terms of hikes, technology used and work life balance. I have to join on Tuesday, 16 Aug.

Op - I took a step down when I joined McK. Been over 2 years and hindsight being 2020, I did the right thing. It’s a learning curve that shouldn’t be discounted. Take a long arc and an year or two means nothing. All the best
I also came from big 4 SC level and moved to a SBA equivalent role. I’d argue content wise that McK is more challenging so that role made sense to me
OP. I’m in that role. DM me. Happy to talk!

Specialist in theory is equivalent to generalist. In reality, the pay is typically lower and promotions take longer. It probably is the right level for a SC. The next level is expert, which is an EM equivalent. You might be treated as a bit of a second class citizen, but it's still McKinsey. The exit opportunities might also be a bit more limited.
What are these integrative vs non-integrative tracks??

From what I hear, it’s hard to make a lateral move into McKinsey and it’s common to be asked to come in at a more junior level. Just like Deloitte hires experienced people a level down, McKinsey does the same (maybe a couple levels down). It takes time to learn how to do things their own way. You have to approach this matter with a long term vision. Does the comp they are offering help you sustain a living? Do they have promotion opps in this path? Would you be able to switch to generalist later on? What are the total comp opps down the line? What are the growth opps for this role? That’s what you should be asking to truly evaluate if this role is a fit, versus being stuck on title and levels. Given you only have 4 years of work experience, this seems like a good fit. Having McKinsey on your resume will only help you, doesn’t matter which Talent model.
Out of curiosity, what practice is the specialist role in?
It's in Operations
Sorry, I’m a new fish here. OP, did you apple for a junior specialist role or were you recruited and offered the role? And what’s your YOE? I want to break in MBB and just looking at how folks have done it. Thanks!
Thank you SC1, good luck with your new potential role :)
When I raised this with McKinsey, the advice given to me is that it's good to start at this level to have more time to understand how the firm operates and to step comfortably into the role. In addition, they mentioned that the specialist role requires more years of experience than the generalist role. Does this sound reasonable? I am conflicted between taking the 'safer' pathway, or between negotiating a higher starting position?
