Cant speak much to protiviti specifically, but I think generally speaking if you move you tend to keep the same salary initially, and they most likely won't adjust it down the next time comp adjustments come around. BUT, you might get less of a raise/no raise in the new market until your salary from Chicago evens out to the market value for that position.
That said, while texas as a state is generally lower cost of living, I feel like Dallas and Chicago are at similar price points these days so there probably shouldn't be much of a change anyways.
Obviously, this is general/my expectations ig I were moving, but you'd have to chat with your hr to really know the truth.
Yeah you should expect lower salary however the cost of housing is much better in Texas though significantly higher than a year ago.

Got it will do thanks so much! My husband and I are looking to purchase a home there and move by the end of the year so I’m worried about my salary adjustment

Totally been noticing that too. It’s become a great place to move to, so it makes sense. I just wonder how much my salary would be affected % wise
If it helps, I lived in Michigan but was tied to the Chicago office. When I moved to Dallas, I believe I got a cost of living adjustment increase since it was in a different market. Also keep in mind, no state taxes in Texas so you get a raise there as well. I believe there is something on the iShare site about locations and pay bands, but if not, ask your hr person there as she will help for sure with that
