Hello - Looking for gut check on my situation. I've worked for the past 2.5 years in consulting for PE Portcos across C&IP sector (DTC/B2B & mnfg businesses). The premise of the projects were ERP implementations, but we've worked across their back office (finance, supply chain and systems ops). I like my role but want out of consulting, into an internal ops role to work at the fund or Portco level. I believe I have a unique skill set to blend those verticals, any advice on steps to take?

Currently an associate at a mid-sized firm with “strong potential” to make partner at the end of this year. Things have been toxic for a while, but have cratered in 2021, with few signs there will be any positive changes on the horizon. What are the pros and cons of staying to make partner before trying to go in-house? I’d assumed it would be better to job search with that title on the resume, but am rethinking my assumptions the worse things get.
