If you want truly film or entertainment then aim for those companies and don’t waste time touching commercials producing especially if it’s within agency. The cross-over is too much of a stretch trust me. It’s not that no one does it it’s more like don’t make a very difficult thing harder. Easier to be a PA or Jr prod in the right type of place and move towards script development, writing, whatever you like.
Agreed. Agencies are hard to break into. Entertainment is hard to break into. Avoid having to ' break in' twice.
What role in scripted TV? A lot depends on that.
I know a few people who built up their on-set experience as PA's on ads and corporate in a small market, then made the jump to LA. You can gain the skills to make you hirable for entry level roles in entertainment, but very few of the connections you make will translate. Connections in scripted TV are what you'll really need to move up from entry level.
There's a lot more examples and nuances, but knowing more about your particular situation would help.
The right question here is about roles.
If it’s producing then the answer is probably no. That’s not to say there isn’t a path, but entertainment is fairly silo’d and movies, tv, and commercials all kind of live within their own lanes.
Yes definitely. If you’re on the production side it’s a bit easier than agency side. The big prod houses have several different arms that cover all sorts of media.
Sell that pilot!!!
It’s certainly a way out of scripted, spent years in the biz, feel free to DM.
