I'm looking to find a job like the Forward Deployed Engineer role Palantir Technologies in the UK.
I have become hooked on finding a job that involves solving the kinds of problems they presented during their interviews. Although I got to the final round my performance anxiety got the better of me (I think I wanted the job a bit too much...). I will reapply after working in a similar company.
Is it "deep tech" / "data science" or "smart enterprise" that they're doing? Any advice welcome.

Hmm I would possibly see if you can find any connections on LinkedIn between people you know and people that work there. I've done this before and landed interviews by just making a distant connection over LinkedIn and asking for a referral. It's worth a shot!
I can't speak to all levels of experience or job type, but as a software engineer with ~8 YOE, I found it very helpful to talk with recruiters and to also put your resume on clearancejobs.com.
About the recruiters, there are really two important details there. Firstly, they will advocate for you and encourage (force) you to have all your stuff in order before you can apply to jobs, which actually helps you to succeed. Along the same lines, talking to a recruiter sort of feels like a first round interview so it actually gives you experience talking under pressure and selling yourself. Highly, highly recommend talking with them.
