My situation is generally that for the past 6 years I built up what was a fairly successful practice in New Jersey that was completely decimated by COVID-19 restrictions. I'm tired of the consumer practice game and want to move into an adjacent field/not be in an attorney role. Ideally looking for something as an employee (starting a family and need some semblance of salary stability for their sake).
Any advice? In Jersey City, so open to NYC-centric ideas.

Do large law firms really recieve enough applications for a position that they cannot follow up when someone reaches out to check on thier application? I get that if you have to reach out, they probably weren't interested anyways, I'm just curious why there is a practice of just leaving applicants in the wind. And also, how does one go about finding out why they were rejected, if thier qualifications are "impressive"?

What exit opportunities exist for international arbitration? I don’t want to litigate, and am a non-American so government jobs (which seem to be what my colleagues are exiting into) aren’t an option for me. I don’t ever see myself making partner (nor do I want to), and I feel totally stuck.

I’m a fifth year associate who is ready to get out of litigation (and private practice altogether). I’ve only ever done professional malpractice (legal, med mal, etc) and feel like those skills will not transfer as well if I had done transactional work.
