Hi Fishes,
I recently got an offer for Cyber security advisory at PwC India . They gave a 20% hike on the current amount. Thing is that l, the technical interview told me that it is not a software/coding type of position and asked me multiple times if I was interested to do that. Is that a red flag?

Started my career at Lockheed right after college with a bachelor's in mechanical eng. After 2 years I got promoted to level 2. I have 4 years of experience overall at LM. My comp ratio is right below mid making about 96k. I have been rated "exceeded" for all my time at LM. I'm in PA. Am I being underpaid? Sometimes when I see some of the TC's on here I feel like I chose the wrong field.

They’re cracking down on people working outside the state they are hired in. I stated from the start I will only fly in for connect days and fly to my other residence in a different state for the rest of my work. I was told I was not allowed to work outside the state I was hired for without approval a year later.
I’m not planning on staying at fidelity. From a tech perspective the culture is to corporate & conservative. Def not a tech culture I’m used to working at.
Well, to state the obvious, you could, you know live in Utah.
Get a cheap apartment /studio or shared rental for address purposes. May be rent out a living room
If possible. Some people rent out couch that’s how airbnb started !! Check on Craigslist!
This. Rent a room from a little old lady.
Is this a hybrid role? If so, I would just move there. You can try the P.O. Box route but Fidelity is probably going to start asking questions if you actually live there.
Also there are tax considerations involved as well. More than likely you will be paying Utah state tax even if you don’t live there but technically you work from there. May/may not trigger an audit but is it really worth the headache to potentially have this happen? Save the hassle and move. If your not comfortable moving than work something out with Fidelity. You have an offer in software engineering, you’re ahead of many other engineers in this economic status.
Rent a cheap apartment?
Would a 6 month lease to be something you would be interested in? Possibly have that while you feel out your company
I don’t believe this is accurate. You will get taxed 25% from the salt lake city office, and the rest from your “home address”. Fidelity prohibits you from working out of the country, however you can work anywhere within the country with a few exception states. You just have to manually adjust your taxes.
Is there dms in this thing I have a solution
Give me a burner email I have a few rentals in salt lake and can give you an address
Monthly extended stay hotel… people live in them all the time… it could be a perm residence
Maybe get a P.O. Box 🤷
That’s not a physical address
The company pays employer taxes to the state where you reside so it needs to be accurate as you’ll be doing your taxes with that location as well to avoid fraud
That doesn’t mean they don’t have employer taxes
Move to salt lake, its a great city!
