Chief
I work in PA, but I don’t worry about getting fired because of a few things. First is that I have enough experience that I can provide value to a company or as a service with my own firm (bookkeeping/taxes) and I have 6-12 months of living expenses. I own a home so my biggest monthly expense is fixed unlike rent where it can fluctuate. I also only need $5k/month to live on to support my family if 4 so finding a job that pays me $5k/month is fairly easy. So I think you need to know what your monthly needed income is, 6-12 months of living expense and confidence in your ability to provide value to a company or to your own customers.
Thank you for your advice. I have my EA.
