I’d start with punctuation and grammar
Sorry man I was recovering from Covid my grammar suffered as well as my heath
I'm assuming you are trying to switch while being paid the same or more. Reality check: Equivalent positions in general accounting pay significantly less than tax.
So if you're looking for a similarly paid position, that means you are applying for positions you are not qualified for.
Also, general accounting and tax do not have the same functions. They share the same platform but have very different expectations. Therefore, you'd likely have to demote a level, similar to jumping to any other department.
I agree with you. I am ok with a paycut I’m applying to these jobs but they are looking for ppl from audit
Start small with AP and AR, then after a year you can easily switch to either accountant or financial analyst.
But to be honest with you, accounting is too much headache
^this. AP and AR are the lowest of the low and no one really looks at them as transferable into a larger finance role and a tough sell to even a gl accounting role.
Does GT not let you move around internally?
Yeah they do but it’s a real pain to be able to move around. Most of my coworkers leave rather then ask to move around
I did it and regretted it. Hope it works out for you. Industry is just boring. I got out of Tax to have more time to finish Master and become a CPA. Well, I did become a CPA and now 5 years into Fund Accounting and the job feels repetitive and not interesting for me. I do work 100% remote and my hours are around 45 a week so that part is nice.
Fund accounting is definitely a boring repetitive job
