Here’s an entirely unrelated to work question, but one that’s entirely “rooted” in vanity. Has anyone had any experience with Bosley or other hair restoration procedures? If so, what was your experience?

Hey there ladies,
We have a new family member who’s transitioned over the pandemic. While we are excited to have her join our side of the fence, she asked for advice on work life tips. I recognize that her experience as a woman is shallow over the pandemic and she wasn’t Indoctrinated into female culture. I thought it works be good to open it up and get your tips and tricks on surviving womanhood!
I’m considering a SAM position at a WPP agency. I originally stated that I was looking for 95k, but would like to up it to $105k based on my experience and the competitiveness of the market.
Any tips on how to do this?
Also would love to hear from people who are currently at a WPP agency about their benefit/work life balance and the overall culture.
Thanks in advance!
Hello fishes, Do you have suggestions on Diversity & Inclusion activities that can be done virtually with a group? I found few ideas in google but would love to hear about any experiences and suggestions.

Hey all!! Just wanted to create some space for us to vent, ask questions, and share our truths in being an EOC (educator of color). As well as some general teaching tips😆
Culturally relevant pedagogy is a big step from the status quo. How are your schools and districts supporting this work?
Hey y’all and welcome (for those of you that are new) to the Educators of Color Bowl! This is a space to chat about all things education, and to share the challenges, success stories and experiences you’ve had as an educator or teacher or color!
I’m curious about how your districts handle wearing BLM apparel. I recently got in trouble for wearing a BLM shirt, but my school had no policy in place to justify their decision to have me remove the message.
Shoutout to any male educators of color in this bowl!! My nephew has his first Black male teacher in Elementary school this year and he’s so excited to have a teacher that looks like him 😭
I wrote a book to help teachers give an initial introduction to race and ethnicity. It is in the libraries at all three schools in the district as well as the local library. I don't know how to get it in other schools.
I will be putting out a softcover text in early 2023. Would anyone like to review the PDF for free to share with me your thoughts? Also, I will be creating worksheets. There's already a few activity sheets that go with the hardcover. www.kimberlyerwin.me to view it.
What does it mean to be an educator of color?
What are your thoughts on the term, person of color? It tends to be controversial at times. Do you prefer something more specific? I personally prefer "Black" for myself.
Anyone watch the new episode tonight? No spoilers but I loved it, Gregory and Janine are my new Leslie & Ben/ Jim & Pam. Also I can’t get enough of Mr. Johnson 😂😂
Question any other educators out there suffer from isolation even with other educators of color......difficulty connecting.
Whats the halloween tradition like at your school? Do you celebrate? I went as Ms. Frizzle 3 years ago and the kids loved it.
Ok, feeling emotional about Quinta Brunson and Sheryl Lee Ralph’s Emmy wins!! I know they’re not teachers irl, but Abbott Elementary has made me feel so seen after working at schools that had to make do with what they had. Plus Sheryl Lee Ralph was for sure one of my TV moms growing up 😭😭
What is the average teaching salary in your state? I’m a 1st year teacher at a public charter making $52k/year. I’m interested in teaching in Los Angeles upon leaving Texas.
What’s your state doing to advance equity in edu? In CA we talk a lot about equity at the student/class levels, but aren’t addressing issues around financial equity and cultural equity in schools.
Has anyone participated in a PD or series of PDs on issues dealing with race and equity that led to meaningful changes? Would love to learn more about them.

I usually ask what it is that made them make that comment in the first place . Then ask if they would feel differently if it were any other student .
Teachers seem receptive to questioning whether they have a deficit mindset. But for teachers to really address their bias seems to require sustained commitment (multiple years) by admin to create space for difficult conversations to occur and facilitate those conversations with norms around listening and being open to discomfort.
And there is a challenging line to toe, there. We get into the realm of teachers (or staff) feeling "attacked" when called out and it becomes grievance time. I wonder if there is a way to approach it through PD that can be effective and all-encompassing.
That's been my approach a few times. Almost like asking students to cite evidence. They normally cant focus on anything other than the original reason they made the comment in the first place. It's sad.
This happens ALL the time in schools where Bkack children are the minority.
The American educational system wasn't designed for us. Remember that.
