I also think it’s worth noting that yearly inflation needs to be kept in mind with renewals.
Start looking elsewhere as well. I feel like contractors are underpaid for the same level of position elsewhere as an FTE
Consulting, outsourcing, temp/vendor worker and other similar companies all take a chunk out of the bill rate before paying the worker. Profits may not be as high as you might think when you consider the costs of sales, overhead, various taxes and benefits.
The best ways to capture more value for yourself are to go independent, or join Google directly, but those routes face their own risks, tradeoffs and challenges.
Honestly I’ve worked at google and fb w TVCs and that isn’t that much of a gap. I’ve straight heard PgM’s tell a new hire to demand salary bc of what he’s paying for them. I would suggest speaking directly w your dotted lines at google about the opp to be converted to FTE and/or build a merit/performance case for the increase you’re requesting at renewal
In a very similar position! (Tvc at google) — would love to know your resolution if you find one!
Definitely haven’t found one. I am working directly with my employer to get an increase. Let’s see how that goes. I refuse to renew at the same rate I came in at.
