I’m an immigrant (not from India or China) with a U.S. Green Card, soon to be a citizen. I’ve been in tech for 6+ years and have a family (husband, 2 kids). As my kids grow, I want to spend an extended time (about a year) in my home country so they can connect with their roots, grandparents, and real-life experiences. I’m looking for a low to non-coding tech role at a company that permits international (different time zone). Any insights?

Hi. People Manager here. I've been one for 12 years now and I encourage my team to not be "yes" people. At this time, it feels like my manager wants me and my team to be yes people for her. How do you handle a subordinate that goes around your decision making and goes higher up in the food chain? My boss (and their boss) made it clear I’m supposed to review and provide feedback and yet now they are fully saying no and going around me. I work in a firm that is known for litigation defense. I’ve been developing my own plaintiffs practice as well. I am able to pay the bills with my hourly defense work, which gives me time to focus on a handful of high value PI case a year on contingency. I was recently negotiating a case and was told part of the reason the claims rep/OC was jerking me around was because they didn’t see me as a plaintiffs attorney. Is there any way to change this perception or does it just come over time?

Have you ever taken a job you know you will hate because you needed the money right away? I have a family to take care of. I don't want to be plowing through our savings for selfish reasons like my mindframe at work, but I don't want to make our lives worse by being miserable. It's a matter of really ruining some of our financial future if we don't get money soon.

Best deal sourcing database? Is pitchbook the best? Other comparables? Private companies but could also include public. Range of industries preferred, but definitely inclusive of tech services companies, solutions/products, too.
