Have you tried connecting with people in similar roles on LinkedIn or attending virtual networking events? I’ve been reaching out to people and just asking them for a brief virtual coffee date to ask about their career. It's honestly been hugely helpful for making connections and has even gotten me a few referrals which has been a game changer.
Thank you for the suggestion, I'll definitely look into it to make better connections and try improve my networking 🤞
I have been applying since last September. I’m finally getting some results now, but it took a few learnings before it happened.
1. Try to apply within the first 50 applications on LinkedIn.
2. I made my resume 1 page and ONLY included experience that pertained to the job description.
3. Always be networking. Have coffee chats with people. Reach out to people to went to school with or worked with in the past. Let them know your looking and worked for them in the past.
4. Don’t be afraid to apply for the same job or company more than once if it was reposted. Switch up and tailor a bit more but apply again.
5. Use ChatGPT to tailor your resume to fit a the job description. Take the good stuff and (I can’t stress this enough) re-read everything before incorporating it into your resume. Disregard the stuff that doesn’t fit or you’re not comfortable talking about.
6. Use action words and show results. “Lead optimization procedures that lead to 30% faster production times.”
7. Practice and record yourself telling work stories and have those nailed down. Try to have a work story for every question that is asked.
8. Find something or continue to do things that will give you some confidence. Take a course, learn something, or try something new. You won’t have time to do this once you land a job.
That’s what helped me. Good luck!
