On one hand, there's less bureaucracy so decisions can be made quickly, plus the nature of a smaller team means there's more opportunities to learn different aspects of the business across different departments. However, due to the smaller size of the company you may not have access to as many resources or industry contacts that larger freight forwarders possess.
Working for a smaller freight forwarder may give you the ability to receive more hands-on training and mentorship from experienced professionals. You also may be able to gain greater job stability due to the smaller size of the company, since there is often less competition for positions within the organization.
Working for a smaller freight forwarder means that you may experience greater responsibility, but also increased hands-on training that can be invaluable in the long run.
Pay blows
Low salary, that's for sure. You'll find it hard to grow professionally. However, the challenging nature of your job will enable you to hone your skills.
