Hi All, looking for some advise I currently work for a large freight forwarder but am curious of the pros and cons of working for a smaller freight forwarder.

On one hand, there's less bureaucracy so decisions can be made quickly, plus the nature of a smaller team means there's more opportunities to learn different aspects of the business across different departments. However, due to the smaller size of the company you may not have access to as many resources or industry contacts that larger freight forwarders possess.

Working for a smaller freight forwarder may give you the ability to receive more hands-on training and mentorship from experienced professionals. You also may be able to gain greater job stability due to the smaller size of the company, since there is often less competition for positions within the organization.

Working for a smaller freight forwarder means that you may experience greater responsibility, but also increased hands-on training that can be invaluable in the long run.

Low salary, that's for sure. You'll find it hard to grow professionally. However, the challenging nature of your job will enable you to hone your skills.

I got my offer last year to join in Sept this year. Recently, I was made aware by people in the firm that there is an increase in salary across the board including my role. Some people joining the same role have received a new offer letters, but I didn't. How should I write to the recruiter to ask? (it's a significant increase of ~20% 🥺)

About month ago I was diagnosed with coronary artery disease (CAD) and had to go through cardiac catheterization to get a stent.
I am in mid 30s and it's unbelievable that i have got this. Have been quite down mentally for last few weeks, and don't think if I can sustain the consulting life anymore.
I am working hard to stop the progression of disease and potentially reverse it. Hope things work out.

What are your strategies for completing work efficiently? How do you figure out how long projects should take? A consistent piece of feedback on my yearly reviews has been that I over-bill & spend too much time on assignments. It’s something I actively work on, but I still have no concrete sense of how long I should spend on basic tasks (e.g., drafting a motion to dismiss). My firm is right to expect that I manage my time better as a mid-level associate. WFH has made my time management worse.
