Hi everyone - ex-big law here (one year), and since then I have been at a boutique securities law firm out of NJ/NY. No billable requirements where I’m at and deal flow is decent enough (most weeks I’m billing 35/45 hours). They do not pay market. MSK (Mitchell Silberberg and Knupp) reached out to me and may be getting ready to make an offer after two rounds of interviews. Has anyone heard how their capital markets group is? Any tips or recommendations? Thanks!

Hi,

I recently gave interview in Hexaware on October 17th. They sent me the CAF form link to fill on the day of interview itself because I cleared all the rounds. I have filled that form and sent my documents for verification but I still haven't received the offer letter. I didn't resign from my current company because I want to resign after getting the offer letter only. Do they send the offer only if we resign and tell them the LWD? And how long does Hexaware takes to release the offer?

Hello! I have a third round interview that will be split in 2 parts: part 1 will be focused on collaboration and working styles, while part 2 will be focused on cross functional teamwork, problem definition, and solutions.

Anyone have an idea of what kind of questions I could expect? Could these be situational questions and/or mini case interviews?

Is it appropriate to email a hiring manager for an update? I emailed HR on Monday. I had an interview two weeks ago (the third interview) for a position I really want. I haven’t heard anything and I keep checking the status and I’m not rejected yet. I thought about emailing the director who I initially interviewed with today since I haven’t heard from HR.

I took the job because the industry I was coming from is very seasonal and hiring won't be in demand until spring next year. Later this afternoon, one of the companies I interviewed with called me back for 3rd interview. This job is riskier but 150k plus, which what I was used too. I ll probably get the job. Should i take it?

Has this happened to anyone? Where you go through the interview process - and they call you back saying you did great in the interview and that you'd be a great fit but the role has been filled. So they are going to pass you to other hiring managers and see if you'd be a good fit in the other teams? I'm so confused.

Early-Stage Startup Advice?

I’m in the concept stage of my startup. My concept is a D2C services offering that would appeal to a broad market - I’ve discussed with friends and family whom I trust about my idea, all of whom have given me highly encouraging feedback.

I know the early stages are critical and I don’t want to make a decision I’ll regret. Namely, I’m wondering if I should give up equity to find a co-founder with a valuable entrepreneur/investor network? Any feedback appreciated!

Interesting article in American lawyer about returning to the office. Funny quotes…

“Another said they sensed a “shift in commitment at all levels in the firm.”

“In the past ‘life’ was organized around work with clients being the center of our focus. Now colleagues seem to think that work can be organized around life whether that is walking the dog, picking up from nursery or isolating because of upcoming holidays. The business of law and serving the clients has lost priority.”

I don’t work THAT much (1800h/year is my target), my weeks are usually 10-11 h m-f.

However, I’m still feeling overwhelmed and close to burnout, and I’m quite ashamed of it when other associates hit close to 3000h.

It’s not the hours, it’s the extreme perfectionism and level of detail expected that makes me hyper stressed when working, all the office politics and working for partners responsible for more they can handle and need explaining like kids, but take all the $ at the end of the day 🙄

If you don’t have 8 hours of billable time a day, do you leave as is or do you fill in the gap with non-billable work? While I am in the office, I don’t always get the billable amount since I don’t have enough work. Seems like a waste of time to enter non-billable time just to fill in the gap but I also don’t want them to think I am not there and slacking off.
