Morgan Stanley does not usually increase your pay when you have a lateral move in the company. Would be better to look outside the company
Would help if we knew the role, title, YOE, etc
It would be a Sr Associate role, so no bump in title. The role would be moving from a generalist role to a specialist. I have 6.5 years of experience in top tier firms.
Many times lateral internal moves will be at the same base comp. They can true you up later on during the next comp cycle (plus your longer term earning potential is likely higher as well)
You have to talk to others in the new department to find out the average/mean for the pay within your level. Increases also depends on department, some departments have bigger budgets and some don’t.
Should you get an increase (any range within 10-20% of your base) it may be categorized as a promotion in your personnel file even though it’s lateral.
Across the board, lateral moves within the same department but different manager usually do not provide increases. A lateral move to a different department and different manager, it can go either way. You could get more money or get a lackluster offer.
