How common are credit checks for roles in accounting or finance positions? Will high utilization on credit card balances and low credit score be a deal breaker? I stopped contributing to my 401K for the last three months in order to pay off credit card debt. I am 28 and have about 68K in my 401K. Was this a smart decision? I want to get out of debt as quickly as possible and I have no student loans or car debt.

What other cards to add to my collection? I have AmEx Platinum and Chase Sapphire Reserve. Fly Delta so AmEx is handy for lounges. Use Sapphire for dining/travel. Should I add Chase Freedom Unlimited?

Home reno financing question. Have a big project coming up in the $120-150k range. Funding sources are:
- 90k from a heloc around prime
- 10k from a credit card that offers promo checks at 2-3% for 12-18 months
- 375k in a brokerage
- 5-6k per month cash that I can put towards the project, loans, or brokerage

I don't want to stop funding the brokerage because my FIRE plan is less numbers based than "hoard like dragon until it's enough" but maybe I should... How would you optimize?

How far in advance do you advise your assistant that you will need them to efile something? I get pushback from my assistant about not giving adequate notice when I tell her in the AM that I will need her to file something in the PM. For context, this is just a regular motion (not for SJ or anything complicated). Also, I always prepare my own exhibits and supporting documents, so I just need her to file the final PDFs.
