I lateraled from a small firm to regional big law last year. I was told that my offer was commensurate with class year (5th year). The firm recently increased first year salary, with a 5% increase for all other attorneys. My original salary was equal to the new first year salary. The difference between my new salary and a first year is now $10k. I think it is fairly obvious that the hiring partner was not truthful with me. How would you address this? Is another lateral move my only option?

Are initial law firm consultations usually free? I’m on H1B and wanted to schedule an initial consultation with an immigration lawyer to discuss some GC options (outside of employment based) and was told I’d have to pay $200 for a consultation (45 mins session).

Let’s talk about wrongful termination. The other day I was fired in the middle of the day without any warning. My colleagues called me because they were confused on why the Talent Manager dismissed me from the chat. I didn’t know what they were referring to. So I called my PM to ask what was happening, and she said that she just got off the phone with the TM and said they were terminating my contract on the spot due to me speaking up about micromanaging. I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

London is a world class metropolitan city and so is the cost of livi.
But then why don't MAANG or other big techs pay as high for software managers and other leadership roles as they do in the USA, particularly California, Washington, New York. In fact for the same role, $ salaries are at least 3X higher to their counterparts roles here in London.
Definitely, London isn't 3X cheaper them.
Is it that companies don't want that high here or there isn't enough competition or something else?

I have been offered a job at KPMG within cyber security in the uk. Originally it was a 25% hike offer. Now I have received a 8% hike at Deloitte as part of the current performance cycle along with a 5k bonus (great incentives every year) The only thing is KPMG is offering this in a @kpmg regional location where I’m based plus the disadvantage is I need to pay 2500£ for my dependent visa costs which I can save if I continued with Deloitte. Seen Lot of negative comments about KPMG. Any thoughts ?
