Hi everyone! Wondering how you guys deal with the language barrier at work, sometimes is hard to express yourself or even find space to share your thoughts. Any suggestions on how to become more confident? I'm feeling more introvert day by day and know this can affect on my career progression and all

Not sure if you are talking about expressing yourself professionally or socially? Dependent on what country you live in, there are also cultural norms and barriers you will have to understand past the language. A lot of EU companies are managed top down and sadly no one wants to hear your thoughts or ideas so don’t take it personally! (my experience woking in Spain, Italy, and Germany). Taking coffee and joining lunches with co-workers are a way of socially connecting. Hang in there

Been there, it’s hard! But take it day by day, it will get better. I remember coming home mentally exhausted and frustrated. But eventually I got more comfortable and at ease with the language. I had to calm the voice in my head that says “you suck at this” and replace it with “take your time and calm down, you can do this”.

I passed the HR screen, did an interview with who would be my) supervisor and the team lead, and am now doing a coding test.

I am familiar enough with the language (React) and pushing updates to Git in order to complete the test, but I'm afraid when I do a panel with the team to review my design, I'll end up making a fool of myself.

I've never been so excited yet so nervous for a role.

I am in a tech IC position. One of friends switched to FAANG by converting the profile to consultant profile. The friend who might have less tech knowledge than me is now in FAANG and earning more. If the end goal would be that the friend might one day be a product manager and me an engineering manager taking instructions from the same friend, isn't consultant profile an easier path to growth. I had been practising DSA for years and the competition is only ever growing.
