Ok be honest, candidates. I really love this set of questions, I’ve been considering shifting my current interview style to these questions - I think they really give you an idea of who this person would be within the work setting. But the questions almost feel too deep for a recruiter to ask. What would you think if a recruiter took a different path and asked these questions instead of the usual ones?

Hi fellow creatives! I’m looking for any and all kinds of creative people to participate in a research study!

I’m a creativity researcher working on my dissertation on the psychology & neuroscience of creativity. I’m interested in understanding how different types of creative careers, side hustles, and artistic outlets relate to our emotions, mental health, & well-being. Ultimately to help build awareness, resources, & improve the lives of creative people.

Sounds like you’re approaching an entry level position. Be dreadfully honest about what you know and what you don’t.
“Fake it till you make it” applies to confidence, not capability. If you know react well enough and git versión control, they’ll take you the rest of the way.
Show them you Can be a communicative dev (I know this sounds like the bare minimum but you’d be surprised) and you’ll do great.
As PM working with dev’s every day - I 100% agree communicate v.clearly what you know and don’t know but also how you learn and your ability to pickup new languages quickly. Never fake your capabilities especially since you have 3 of 4 things they are looking for. If you don’t speak up about what you don’t know or are stumped by, you are a massive liability to the company.
I still fake it till I made it after twenty years. Just pretend you know it and learn that shit fast.
I don’t know if fake it till you make it works w tech.
Got a friend that pretty good in react? This company still hiring and is it located in NYC or remote?
