Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase

Also if you could give some more information about your workex I might be able to help better.
From what I've seen in London is that there are a lot of hiring freezes happening currently across firms and quite a few students have been struggling with getting a job or managing expenses with their salary given the sky high rent and inflation.
Given the continuous rate hikes, a recession is not out of the question which will then slow down business further which might make life even more difficult in the next few years
I would suggest coming here via the work visa route simply because the amount you have to pay for the fee and rent without earning anything for one year. This will also save you from recouping your investment if things take a turn for the worst economically.
This is not to scare you from coming to the UK but I'm just trying to paint a picture of the ground reality here.
Hope this helps.
