Have an interview with a company I really want to work for tomorrow. My last job I was laid off b/c of an acquisition&recently accepted a job at a diff company b/c I couldnt afford not to. To all those in management, how do firms that haven’t instituted pay cuts/furloughs manage to do that? Is it because their clients are still paying the bills, because they are borrowing money, because partners just won’t see profit this coming year? Some combo?

Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad. I’ve worked twice as hard and feel like I’ve barely even gotten half as much. It’s discouraging sometimes especially because I worked so hard with pretty much no guidance (first gen, poc, low-income) to get into college and do well and then get into a t30 law school

Now that the craziness of 2021 is firmly in the mirror, what is your class year and when do you normally stop working at night, on average? For me 6 to 7 is the average. Have to wake up at 5 or 6 a.m. one or two days a week to make that happen though and it may not last through Q4..

Thoughts on recording meetings. In Texas and have ADHD. I’ve been recording internal meetings for the past couple of weeks and my work product has improved exponentially. I’m able to go back and listen to the directions over again. In law school I had a note that gave me permission to do this. Is this taboo in a firm?
