I switched groups during my internship - find a team / partner through networking and have them help you make the case
What do you want to do in consulting? Honestly right out of college I was put into a group in consulting based off of need as well and it’s been hard to rebrand myself post several years of experience in this group. I think it’s important to push for what you want to do but you can always use that as starting experience and go somewhere else after a year or so.
Hahah no no wasn’t taken as mean at all I’m genuinely worried I could lose the risk consulting internship as well Ahhaa! The advice is much appreciated!

Get a partner to vouch for you. Regardless, apply to other firms for full-time opportunities as well
I know people who only wanted consulting and not risk during internship. HR was happy to not give them a job
That’s what I’m worried abt, so maybe don’t ask HR and just talk to partners?
Knowing that you are currently studying at University of Notre Dame I would directly network with S& folks (they do real strategy work, MC at pwc doesn’t do strategy) and see if they can have you as an intern for your junior year.
Also, just simply apply elsewhere, I’m am very sure you can land interviews at all the T2’s and even MBB if you really try.
And yes I have also asked strategy & people and got some promising leads, what are your thoughts on trying for PwC MC and Strategy & simultaneously? How bad of a look is it?
Get a partner in a management consulting group you’re interested in to pull you in to intern in their group next year
Ok I will definitely try to do the same that is very encouraging!
Now is the time to push - will be much easier to network into a new team now instead of a year in
Ok gotcha! I will network by butt off after my case interview tmrw 😂
