McKinsey & Company Hey folks!
Was wondering what sort of life sciences projects does usually the Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Company take on?
Commercial, access and pricing, M&A, transformation, implementation? (all of them perhaps?)
Basically, what would someone with an LS background be mainly working on in these firms on a day-to-day basis?
Thanks!

Probably best not to have so many that it’s hard to keep track of, but do whatever works best for the case you have in front of you. Trying to fit a mckinsey case into any sort of rigid framework usually doesn’t work well
I usually have at least 3 but never more than 4.
If you have a lot of points try putting them in an « other considerations » bucket.
This is not a rule, thats just how I personally do it
Coach
Depends on the case but my philosophy when I was casing was the more I say/write on top of what was necessary to solve the case the more I was setting myself up to mess up later on in the case.
If the case situation needs additional buckets that you can pressure test then go for it, but be wary about making additional buckets just for the sake of it.
My recommendation is to have a structure that seems to best fit the case being asked, and not have these general rules which may not work all the time.
In my case, most cases ended up having 3 buckets usually (~80%), but not by design.
Thank you for the advice! I’m being told I have all the right details but just need to be more structured and concise
Used 3-5 buckets in my final rounds and had no issues - even in practicing beforehand my structure upfront is one of the dimensions where I’d “spike” according to my McK case partners
