Wait - why would you go from Deloitte to KPMG?
I don’t understand this whole ‘why would you for from D to other Big 4’ thing. I’ve been in Deloitte for long and don’t really drink the kool aid but if you get a great opp to do something in another firm and get paid well for it, why wouldn’t you ?
Whoa! Not sure why that negativity from K1. Been here 6 years and I like this firm, the people and the culture.
I came from kpmg to pwc ... worst culture ... highly hierarchical ... you need to keep sucking your partner and director balls to grow ... there is nothing called performance for pay ... complete advisory barring 2 partners , is the same who are retiring this year ... my advice avoid if you can
M1 pretty much nails it
Which practice? The culture changes from practice to practice.
I just moved from KPMG to EY last year. Can’t start to begin my frustrations with KPMG. Firstly it is not at all immigrant friendly. Visa processed suck, don’t do H1b in premium. Hell, they don’t even pay for fedex to post your h1b receipt so it reaches you reliably! Secondly, their green card process is very strict and riddled with multiple requirements. It may or may not start and their promises (especially verbal) at the time of recruitment will get forgotten very quickly. Thirdly, their bonuses suck. Like someone said, money gets distributed at the top and you get nothing by the time it reaches you. Salary hikes are bad as well. Very hierarchical and Ghora dominated. Hard for you to make a mark as a desi and move up. Overall worst and toxic culture.
@D2 - your experience is different from mine. You are probably more incompetent and that’s why you are not able respect others opinions. I am in EY which is mostly American as well. There is no such discrimination here. Probably you are too foolish to understand that!
OP after seeing ey1 and D2 , better go to kpmg or come to pwc
Best firm ever..culture is best, people are awesome and pay/bonus are great too if you are good performer. This is from last 4 years of experience at KPMG. Which practice OP? Lot of things depends on the practice..
I came as an industry hire 5 years ago and have been through the promotion process here. Work hard, build solid relationships and demonstrate your value, and you will get rewarded. I chose KPMG over 2 other Big 4s ( and higher offers) because I felt the culture was more aligned towards collaboration and team work. Don’t regret my decision a single day.
Worst culture get out..
Why?
Works for you director..as a manager it sucks.. you have sales/managed rev goals that's no body will give you.. especially directors hog it all up..no path to move forward..you've keep sucking up and you keep chasing utilization
K1 - are you talking from experience?
Yes..
KPMG mein dandon ki kami nahi hai.
Culture varies by practice a lot OP. If you know someone there (at partner level) then things may be easy for you. I hope you are getting fair comp to make it worth.
EY1 - sorry to hear a non Indian firm is Gora dominated. Such misery. Hard to make a mark as a desi is the worst argument ever. Don’t blame color for what might be your incompetence
