Hi my fellow neurodiverse friends. I wanted to ask you all something and it’s a bit of a sticky situation because there’s so much sensitivity around it, but let me pose a question to you. What if you were on a project where the manager was constantly showing signs of being ADHD (undiagnosed)? How have you all handled it when you’ve come across someone like this?

I’m the M but I’ve noticed it in my staff and the ones I’m really close with I’ve said look I was diagnosed late, but these are signs of adhd and the person said “oh everyone tells me I have adhd” and so I’m like “it’s possible they are right, so if you feel you’d ever benefit from a diagnosis, it’s certainly a possibility”

Then another staff I just disclosed and the person said them too and so we’re able to help set them up for success better now that I’m aware and we’re more open about our own struggles which I think has been helpful for us both.

Also you say her/she. My adhd didn’t become a big problem for me until after I had kids. Too many things and my overcompensation to make up for my adhd started failing. Thanks adderall for helping 😂

Absolutely DO NOT start a conversation with someone at work about your opinion about their mental health/condition. Only exception is if you are very good friends with them. Otherwise this is not your business and definitely not your place to bring up. If there is a performance issue or something like that then discuss that with them or HR.

I fully understand wanting to help. There are ways to do it (e.g., offering to help with tasks where you see gaps) in ways that don’t cross a boundary with someone’s mental health journey.

I’ll start off by saying, I want to engage this person privately, so as to be sensitive with their feelings. But like the behavior is spoken about negatively on my side by colleagues and even leadership to some degree. I want to help her because I see her struggling on her side with accomplishing tasks, but I don’t want to get sucked into doing all of her work. What have you done when you’ve noticed this before?

Have you ever been told off by an older attorney of color? I don't think I've ever had a bad attitude at work, and whatever "tone" I'm speaking in it's my normal one. As a Black woman I just feel super weird about it and kind of sad.

Small firm (my boss, me, & a paralegal). After a hearing I did not handle, boss intended to seek review of the ruling in its entirety. What was communicated to me by paralegal was to seek review of a portion.

Seeking review is now time-barred. Boss is not upset, but this is 1 case & 1 problem. There are other cases & other stories.

Here is my dilemma: I was passed up for manager promo last year and rightfully so a lot of my feedback was definitely correlated to me not properly handing my symptoms causing a good bit of inconsistencies in my performance especially if I lacked interest. This year I’ve crushed it and switched up projects off of ones that I’ve long been on. The few people who “advocate” for me seem to be stuck on things that seem either 1) so unsubstantiated and show that they are too far detached from the …

One example of personal experience is my ongoing prep for case studies as I'm interviewing with a number of firms. I just realised it now. My doctor has suggested treating depression (I was also unaware of this) with Wellbutrin first (contd)

First day of 30mg vyvanse today. Had a rush of energy and hyperfocus (too much so) about 2-4 hours in, but had a complete crash 5hrs after taking the pill (just a wave of fatigue, felt very good after a quick 15min nap actually) and not sure if it had any effect after. Is this normal? Should I stick it out for a few days or is this a big sign that I’m not on the right meds/dose? Nervous to keep trialling this during the workday since a midday crash is not ideal. Appreciate any advice!

Has anyone had a Manager that does not work well with your ADHD? Im going through this right now and the way they communicate doesn’t match what I need. If I ask questions, they huff and puff. It’s sucks that I don’t have enough interest to continuously focus on the projects, but now I have even less motivation because I dread dealing with my manager.
