I’m a CPA and originally got into this for a stable / interesting job, but in the long-term I’d like to do something that either influences drafting of tax legislation or helps the public (however naive that may sound). Perhaps I’ve gotten too introspective during the pandemic. Don’t really want to go back for a JD and aside from keeping a roof over my head I’m not very motivated by money. Is it weird that I get annoyed whenever my boss subtly implies that I should apply what I've learned in my graduate program to work? Being that the company didn't provide any type of tuition reimbursement nor did I receive any type of pay raise after completing my degree? There are many other factors as to why I feel this way (no promotions in past couple of years, entire team leaving job, having conversations about growth opportunities but nothing becoming of it each time).
