I think my company has not so good insurance but that’s just compared to friends I know that work down at the docks/port.

Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.
Disney Streaming Services I completed my interview process with DSS early last week, and was reached out by recruiter that all rounds were strong hires, and they are extending an offer. We set a time to talk on Friday about the offer. However, the announcement of targeted hiring freeze happened on Friday. I was ghosted with no call. What should I expect now? Would I still have chance to be offered?

The problem with the US national unemployment rate stats - setting aside whatever shenanigans the Trump administration might be up to and trying to manipulate them - is that our careers and peers, and LI feeds, live within specific industries and disciplines. For example my career focus is UX strategy and design, and it's a bloodbath out there for my industry. But if other sectors such as healthcare, construction, service jobs, etc. are doing well, then the national stats are reflecting that aggregate snapshot. So it makes it feel like gaslighting - the national stats and resulting media headlines tell a solid story of good/adequate employment levels and job growth, but if you are in certain industries, it personally doesn't feel like that, at all, like not even close.
💯 they’re fabricating and concealing it to make the republicans look good leading up to the midterms. The last 3 months it was hell trying to get an interview, I only found a role by the grace of god because I had this niche skill in a tool I used at my last company. Started 2 weeks before my contract ended the last job.
I know people unemployed for longer with years in experience. It was never this bad the 12 years I was working in IT
100% correct, they aren’t counting anyone not on unemployment. So if unemployment ran out or your not eligible you don’t get counted
Long way from Dollar General.... What we are facing is competition with abusers of the H1B, Opt, and other programs, as well as offshoring, etc. They do not have to cover unemployment insurance, the worker is a serf, and inches from a slave, unpaid overtime is de rigeur. For a map, look up Japan's Black Companies.... Essentially, no one hears you scream there, and getting out.. Good Luck!!! You eat, badly, you get a little more sleep than a Seal recruit during Hell Week.... Death from overwork.. They own it. The stats can also be affected by a change of the main formula... BLS experience... Happened... Was it Bush 2 or Obama???
Careers are hard to come by.. If young, look for apprenticeships if you can, at something you like... You will do it a lot. Pray hard, work hard.
I believe the same but only in major economies
I was in India last one year, I didn’t see any impact anywhere on normal life , it’s just like before 2020
All that unemployment and economic impact may be in western countries only
It’s easy to understand where the jobs gone
It’s a combination of things. Overhiring during Covid, AI (or companies saying it’s AI), who the heck knows. But when companies feel nervous about the economy, it’s bad. And it does feel worse than before. I’ve been laid off a half a dozen times and this is by far the worst. But I’ve been on tons of interviews, but later find out they never hired anyone. Oh great, so it’s just a practice interview?
I’m so so sorry you’re going through this. I think tech is going to be a bumpy road for the next 18 months, I would consider pivoting to a different industry.
I agree it's worse but we work in tech and it varies by region
