I was approached by Guidehouse because my LI profile was "really unusual" and appeared to have great potential to bring new capabilities to a Director level position. Interviewed with a lead recruiter for over an hour, and we discussed my interest and comp requirements.
Interviewed with 3 partners the following week. One partner took particular interest, and wanted me to interview with 3 of her Directors for 45 minutes each - asking questions like "tell me about a project you led". Regardless, the interviews all went very well IMHO. They sent me benefits packages to review, even though no JD to share.
After 7 interviews, I pushed the internal recruiter to tell me more about the job I am I am actually interviewing for. She said that had not really been decided yet, and that the whole process was really just exploratory.
Ghosted after that. Nearly 7 hours of my life I'll never get back. Plus it caused unnecessary interruptions to other serious role pursuits.
Seemed bizarre until I noted that Guidehouse likes to recycle position posts on Linkedin, over and over. Put that together with other posts here in Fishbowl that talk about how they will make offers, only to postpone start dates until a client contract materializes, and I realize they are basically trying to keep a supply of consultants on tap to hire as needed for contracts - much like RPG Consulting.
I agree. Maybe it's better just to drink bleach.
Consistently the worst company on this app.
Long story short, if a Guidehouse recruiter ever reaches out to any of you guys just save yourself the trouble and drink bleach. It’s easier that way.
Could you DM me with who your recruiter was? I have a similar situation. Interviewing now with GH AI/ML, they have also made similar promises with respect to salary, I also have other offers pending. Want to try to avoid this situation
(PT 2) I was very transparent about the fact that I was considering offers from other firms, as well as my offer deadlines. Throughout the process, Guidehouse confirmed they would beat out my competing offers. Before my other offer deadlines, they refused to extend a written offer because it needed to “finalize getting processed in the system”. Pretty sure this was all a ploy to try and get me to drop out of all my other applications. Bait and switch recruiting at its finest.
Please don’t tell me you let other offers lapse because of guidehouse 😩
Luckily no. I started getting suspicious after I couldn’t get shit in writing. I got extensions in case Guidehouse was being legitimate but I gave Guidehouse an earlier deadline in case they were trying to blow smoke. Most likely gonna accept an offer from Deloitte now.
F*ck Guidehouse, I’m so thankful I dodged that bullet after I looked through this bowl for advice. What a joke 😂
That's a terrible experience for sure. AIML with a clearance is worth 120k+ easily. Like all consultancies, your Guidehouse experience is heavily dependent on project and direct leadership. I hear everyone's gripes but frankly I had a far worse experience at Deloitte, and for a lot less pay. But, I definitely would feel the same way you do after what recruiting pulled.
I’m sorry that happened OP. I work in that practice now and am ashamed hearing how it played out.
When a recruiter reached out to me at Guidehouse I told them I wanted $110k. I had my interviews and an offer for exactly that within 4 business days. I’ve had a very positive experience since, but understand it’s not a consistent experience across the board.
Best of luck to to you in the job you end up taking.
What level were you recruiting for? What sector? This is also weird.
For someone with your skillset and clearance, assuming at TS, 120k is doable. Quite frankly, 85k is a slap on your face. I'm sorry you went through such a horrible experience. Unfortunately, GH is so segmented and employees experience wild things based on account teams. I wish there was a unified culture across the whole firm.
Maybe you’re not worth more than 85k?
He's a represtation of management at shithouse.
