One technique that you might consider is having a direct discussion with the individual. Approach it from the perspective of asking them to layout the information and communication they need and at what frequency to have them gain the confidence that you are able to deliver at a the level they expect. They should understand their impact on your performance by their behavior.

This is exactly what I do as well, and it truly helps 85% of the time. I have not reached 100% yet :/

Tell them you deliver your best results when you're allowed space to work and breathe.

For the past 2-3 years, I have obsessively tracked my net worth/income trends/investment performance over time. I checked my trends just now, and OMG I hit the 300k net worth mark right around Christmas. I guess I haven’t looked at my dashboard for a month. This feels so cool. I want to shout it from the roof! I can’t really brag about this to my friends, so I’m sharing here! 🎉 🎉

Interested in everyone’s opinions on replica luxury. I ask because, as noted in the previous thread re: Chanel’s price increases, the quality of authentic luxury bags is going way down while the price increases consistently. Specifically Chanel and LV. I’m fascinated in the online rep community and it looks like rep quality has increased exponentially (with genuine materials and 1:1 markings, stitching, hardware, etc). What’s your argument for or against replicas?

I am fairly green in academia (< 1 year) and I want to shift to an area of research which I always wanted to do but never could as a Ph.D. student (because of conflict of interest).
The issue I am facing is that due to lack of my documented research experience in this field (read, lack of papers) I am finding it very hard to land any grant and reviewers keep saying "The PI hasn't demonstrated any experience in said research" blah blah.
Any advice on how to overcome this?

I have been approached by 3 separate HR people at a startup company to interview for a position. I already have a fulltime job that pays well and I only started 6 months ago too. Anyways, the pay was intriguing and the job was a high level scientific advisor so I did interviews. At the last interview, at the end I was told the job was for management but I prepared for a different kind of interview. I am waiting for an offer or rejection letter. I feel peeved that they wasted my time. Red flags?
