You can try being more proactive. Or, let them know that you have noticed and ask why they do what they do.

like

She will react : you know what I will usually do xxx so I think it’s best you follow my instruction ! This is a communist company you cannot comment but to follow instruction from her

like

I like to twitch a bit and tell them the voices are telling me what to do and we’re just fine.

like

Politely tell them that while you appreciate their attention to detail, you're able to complete your tasks without constant help.

like

She will shout : you don’t have to tell me what to do! I am in charge and you listen to me ! You get out!!

like

Oh, this is an easy one. You give them what they want, in excruciating detail. You notify them when you're going to the bathroom, when you're back, lunch, etc. But you must first announce that you I tend to comply with their request to the best of your ability.

like

You also make it EXCRUTIATINGLY CLEAR, that you're going to keep track of this insanity so that when this all goes 'Boom' They are not going to have anyway to escape from what they started. Less-than-politely making an overbearing, to the point of outright abusive, Manager aware that there is going to be an on-going record of what they've started, and where EVERYONE can see where it's going to wind up, has a serious way of forcing them into being a lot more cooperative, since Otherwise is going to see them left with their 'short's' down when it all goes 'Boom'.................

I have the opposite problem. Previous manager was invisible, new manager, met her twice since 1st of January 2026. Service manager too busy dealing with firefighting. Colleague from another team has assumed the role of a manager but with no authority to ask anyone to carry out any tasks. And not in a position to take blame when things go wrong. Looks like it’s either too much involvement or no involvement from managers today.

I had one and it gave me so much anxiety. I ended up having to get therapy and I left a transferred to another department. I think it’s very sad that they allow this to happen to people and many places feel like micromanaging is just a Management style. But what it is it’s breaking down employees and it’s causing them to have mental and physical ailments that do not allow them to focus on doing their actual job. I am so sorry this is happening to you because it happened to me for over three years and nobody was held accountable for this.

My supervisor gave me 8hours of AWOL because I couldn't show up one day because I was under anxiety. I have gave him letters from psychiatrist, psychologist that I'm passing through this. He didn't care and gave me an AWOL. I want to leave my job because my department is very toxic but I don't want to leave having that on my records.
If I move to another job later on (private or federal) this 8 hours of AWOL will show up?

I have worked in municipal government for almost 17 years. I love what I do as an Inspector, but the environment is toxic, and administration horrible. I have an opportunity to go into the private sector side, as well a second interview for another municipality doing same job. Private sector job will pay 35,000 more but will be 3 hrs away my husband is in law enforcement and can’t leave due to his position. Concerns are: private sector and when recession hits, it’s construction, away from hubby

Hi! Anybody knows of federal agencies hiring that are offering fulltime telework/remote?

Does where you get your masters degree matter? I’m in an online environmental science masters program at an expensive “name-brand” school, but have colleagues telling me I should transfer to a less expensive program to save $ because no one cares about where your degree is from. Aside from the cost of it, I like my program, and the fact that I’m now connected to an incredible alumni network. And not gonna lie, I like the clout. Thoughts?

Applying to roles within the same federal agency. I know you need one year within the probationary period, but can I apply to a higher GS level? For example, if I'm GS 9, receive a promotion to GS 11 at the end of probation, would i be able to apply to GS 13 roles if I'm qualified? Anyone have experience with Dept of Public Safety? Are they disorganized? Do they have a bad culture? I am starting to think they suck based on my application experience with them , compared to other state agencies.

I currently work in Private (GA) Aviation & have for some time (about 12 years) I’m currently making the switch to the Department of Aviation and am unsure if I should ditch my current job (in private) and go full force with the DOA & embrace this new opportunity educationally and gather as much experience as I can or keep both jobs even though I’d be working 80hr weeks..
