If you thought you were performing stellar and let go —> red flag 🚩Somethimg is off here (big disconnect)
Agree with D1 here…was a part of a layoff bc pipeline dried up…literally everyone that was rolling off projects was let go and those that were staffed, stayed…was pretty crazy, honestly…but the thought process, as i understood it was they didn’t want to upset client relationships by moving staff around and would be a “bad” look to client if they took someone off to let them go…
This happened to me, albeit a long time ago. Somewhere along the line, there was a misalignment between your expectations and theirs. Where that was, obviously I can't say. Tough as it is, though, don't let this blow your self confidence. You have value and you bring something to the table; if you didn't, you wouldn't have landed the job. In consulting, we're constantly re-inventing ourselves, and now is your time to do that.
I just started as an analyst and now I’m terrified
As long as you can get along with others, be a reasonably responsible member of a team, and not egregiously offend a client you will get your first promotion
Were you fired or let go?
Like D1 said, “let go” implies a layoff scenario, whereas “fired” implies for cause. I was laid off a few years ago when the pipeline at the firm I was at dried up. They let 25% of the delivery staff go. Sucked, but I had built a god reputation with clients and had a strong network, so landed a new role pretty quickly.
Name the firm so that we are aware of the the firm’s I’ll treatment
What firm?
What did they say to you? Any feedback on what you were being let go? What was demoralizing about the experience?
