How do I decide how much time, if any, to take off work once I have my first child? Amazon has a generous birth and parental leave policy for the US so I will be able to spend the first five months with my child at home including some PTO. I have about 10yrs of tech and operations manufacturing experience and I feel like I’m just on the edge of earning a sr manager role at a big company or a director level role at a small company. Am I risking that jump completely if I take a full year off?
