First off, this job market is trash. Second of all, getting remote is extremely competitive, and most places want a solid background (probably need more than 2 tears. I have 23 years and have been looking for almost 4 months) and previous experience being remote. It's not easy being remote unless you are fully capable of doing everything on your own with very little oversight. Your best bet is to look for hybrid and try to move on from there.
Most likely would have to work with someone or a team that can verify your work product is solid and you’re someone that can be relied upon. Then the main supervisor goes to bat for you, after which you’d be given authority. You don’t just jump into these opportunities without no one knowing who you are, much less your work product
Thanks so much for replying! Do you have any recommendations on going about that? Would I need to work with someone in person first and then switch remote?
Try getting in at a government agency, I've worked at two of them in California and both of them were/are remote. The application process is tedious but worth it.
